Ingredients

- 1 lb lean ground beef (90/10 sirloin)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- ⅓ green bell pepper, diced
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- ½ tsp chili powder
- Salt & pepper
- Burger buns
- Olive oil

Method
1. Prep the Vegetables:
- Dice the green pepper and onion.
- Mince the garlic.
2. Brown the Ground Beef:
- Sprinkle the ground beef with salt and pepper.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Once cooked, transfer the ground beef to a bowl.
3. Cook the Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, add a little olive oil and cook the onions and bell pepper over low heat for 15 minutes until softened.
4. Combine and Season:
- Add the cooked ground beef back into the skillet with the vegetables.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, red pepper flakes, chili powder, and a splash of water.
- Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
5. Simmer and Thicken:
- Cook the mixture over medium heat for about 15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Assemble the Burgers:
- Toast the burger buns if desired.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the burger buns.
