Ambrosia Salad

Ingredients

  • 6 Satsumas
  • 1 orange
  • 1 pink grapefruit
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • Pecans
  • Coconut Shavings
  • *optional (if using less sweet ingredients): 1 tsp sugar

Method

Preparing the Ingredients

  1. cut the grapefruit into thirds and peel the skin off, then cube the thirds
  2. halve the cherries
  3. dice the pecans
  4. peal the satsumas and pull apart the slices, cutting them into thirds
  5. peal the orange and cut into cubes

Festively Putting the Ingredients Together

  1. put cherries in bottom of mason jar to prevent staining the coconut
  2. layer some of the Satsuma cubes on top of the cherries
  3. sprinkle some coconut shavings on top
  4. layer half of the grapefruit cubes on top
  5. sprinkle coconut shavings again
  6. place the rest of the grapefruit cubes in the jar
  7. layer some more satsuma cubes on top
  8. place the diced pecans at the very top of the jar
  9. screw the lid on the jar to store the dish and tie a ribbon around the top to complete the festive look for you Ambrosia
  10. Once it’s time to serve, dump the Ambrosia into a glass bowl and enjoy!

* optional: add sugar if using less sweet ingredients to make the dish taste less bitter
