Ingredients

- 1 sweet onion
Wet ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup mile
- vegetable oil spray
Dry ingredients:
- 2.5 cups flour
- 1 tbsp Paprika
- 1 tsp cayenne
- 1/2 tsp Thyme
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper

Sauce:
- 1.4 cup mayo
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp horse radish
- 1/4 tsp cayenne
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
Method
- cut the top of the onion off about 1 quarter inch
- peel the onion and cut off a little bit of the bottom
- place the top of the onion into a big lid and using a smooth, thin knife, vertically cut the onion in half several times
- put the onion in a bowl of cold water, cover it, and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes
- mix flour, paprika, cayenne, thyme, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper in a large glass bowl
- put in 2 eggs, water, and milk in a different bowl and stir well with a whisk
- dry the onion and carefully pull the petals apart
- put the onion right-side up into a large bowl of dry ingredients and use a spoon or your fingers to get the flour in between all the petals
- flip over the onion to get rid of the excess flour, put it in the bowl of wet ingredients, then place it back in the flour and cover it again
- get all the excess off, then place the onion on a sheet of foil
- spray it with lots of vegetable oil (use a mist instead instead of direct sprays to prevent removing the spices!!)
- put the onion in the air fryer and cook it for 5 minutes, spray with oil, then cook for 20 more minutes, or until it’s done
- put mayo, sour cream, ketchup, horse radish, cayenne, pepper, paprika, and salt into a small bowl and mix
- serve the blooming onion on a plate with the sauce on the side and enjoy!
