Dishwasher Steak

Ingredients

  • 3 oz soy sauce
  • 3 oz brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped finely
  • 8 oz Ribeye
  • sea salt (optional)

Method

Marinade:

  1. In a pan, add soy sauce, brown sugar, white vinegar, pepper, and garlic.
  2. Warm up the mixture to melt the brown sugar.

Preparing the skillet and cooking the steak:

  1. Put the steak into the bag and pour in the marinade.
  2. Vacuum the bag and seal it closed.
  3. Place the steak in the top rack of the dishwasher.
  4. Cook for 1 hour. (If you can adjust the dishwasher temperature, set it to 120 °F.)
  5. When you are 30 minutes into cooking the steak, put the cast iron skillet into a cold oven.
  6. Bring up the heat to 500°F, then pull out the pan after 30 minutes.
  7. Place the 500°F skillet on a heated stove, then sear the steak in the pan for a couple minutes.
  8. Serve in a plate and top with some sea salt if you would like. Enjoy!
